Camp life on Aconcagua: Stefan Nimmesgern and his wife Angelika tried in 2006 to climb to the summit of the 6,962 metre high mountain in Argentina. The mountain is one of the Seven Summits – a designation for each of the highest peaks of the seven continents.
Angelika made it to the summit, her husband remained. His heart went on strike on the last meters and he got no more air – effects of his heart failure. “When I had made the decision, I cried in the middle of the night and snot about the missed peaks a chance,” he recalls in his book, “re-emergence”.
